Asus have come up trumps with this seriously smart looking laptop aimed at the gaming market, it is the Republic of Gamers (ROG) G74SX notebook, it may have a similar look to other models in the range but this one offers a smoother gaming experience and more importantly for the gamer it is much easier to upgrade! So what does this superior gaming machine have to offer? First of all there is the 17.3 inch Full high definition display with 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions or the 17.3 inch high definition display with 1600 x 900 of pixel resolution and a built in 2.0 mega pixel we camera too!
This machine will be powered by the 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM quad core processor with 2.0 GHz and Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.9 GHz. Graphics are naturally coming from the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 3 GB GDDR5 VRAM graphics card. As for networking the G74SX has a couple of choices here, first is the WLAN: 802.11 b/g/n (@ 2.4 GHz), Bluetooth v2.1 and then there is the LAN: 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. Memory is covered by a 12 GB of DDR3 SDRAM, 4 x SODIMM Sockets (up to 16 GB) and as for Storage a nice 1.5 TB 7200 RPM hard drive (2 x 750 GB HDD).
When it comes to connectivity there is an 8 in 1 card reader (MMC, SD, Mini-SD, XD, Memory stick, MS Pro, MS-Duo and a MS-Pro Duo. There is a whole range of input & output connectors too such as the 1 x Mic-in, 1 x Headphone-out, 1 x VGA port/Mini D-Sub 15-pin for external monitor, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x superfast USB 3.0 port, 1 x Gigabit LAN and 1 x HDMI port so that the gaming experience can be transferred to larger screen TV. As for the size and weight the G74SX has dimensions of 16.5 x 12.8 x 2.4 inches (W x D x H) and weighs a heavy 9.4 lbs with the eight cell battery installed.
